Structural Design and Analysis
Conceptual Studies
NST provides conceptual studies before commencement of detailed engineering stage. This aims to propose more time and cost efficient solutions and minimise potential risks.
Detailed Engineering
Design and Analysis of tens offshore structures, in particular fixed platforms, have been carried out by our team of engineers. Our engineers have been involved in design and analysis of jacket, topside, bridge and jack-up structures in the North Sea, Middle-East, Africa and Caspian Sea. NST is capable to deliver a wide range of structural analyses for assessment of offshore structures to the latest standards.
Advanced FE Analysis
Using ANSYS, ABAQUS and USFOS to develop solutions for a wide range of applications including pushover analysis, fracture mechanics, blast walls, wellhead equipment, Stress Concentration Factor (SCF) determination, preloaded connectors and threaded connectors, non-linear materials and ultimate capacity analyses.
Subsea Equipment and Pipeline Engineering
Wellhead Equipment
Wellhead equipment and production systems shall be designed as per API 6A and API 17D requirements for surface and subsea use respectively.
API Specification 6A (ISO 10423) recommends product specification levels (PSLs) and Performance Requirement levels (PR) for equipment with quality control requirements for various service conditions based on the design pressure/temperature level and material class. PSLs apply to primary equipment:
-
Tubing heads
-
Tubing hangers, hanger couplings
-
Tubing head adapters
-
Lower master valves
NST offers preparation of required documentations for achieving API Certification and API Monogram as per requirements of standard. Moreover NST supplies services for executing and management of PR testing.
-
Consultation and preparing documentation to justify applicable PR and PSL level.
-
Preparing design validation and calculation package
-
Test equipment design and manufacturing as per API 6A/17D standards requirements
-
Preparing factory acceptance test (FAT) and System Integration test (SIT) procedures
-
Supervising FAT and SIT and preparation of result reports
-
Coordination with independent certifying bodies in order to get appropriate certification
Design Verification of Subsea Equipment
Our experts have been successfully involved in several would class subsea field development projects in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Mediterranean Sea. Some of these projects have been the biggest subsea projects at their time. In NST we are proud of offering design checking and provision of engineering calculations for pressurized subsea equipment w.r.t to API and ISO standards. This includes:
-
Code checking w.r.t API standard for Valves, Connectors, etc
-
FE Analysis of complex geometries
-
Development of FAT procedures
-
CP design
-
Foundation design and/or PSI analysis
-
Structural analysis
Design of Conductor Connectors
Using ANSYS and ABAQUS, we offer design of complex Riserlock Connectors in accordance with ASME VIII Div.3and ISO13628-7 code.

Design of Floating Risers
Our team has been involved in design of several floating risers. Side picture shows results of a analysis for workover riser in tubing hanger mode. Time domain analysis using non-linear geometry and irregular seas was adopted for this analysis. Marine riser and workover riser modelled as separated strings with contact at clamps.

Heavy Lifting and Marine Operations
Heavy Duty Equipment
Strand jacks can offer a flexible way to handle the largest of loadsfor loud-out, roll-up and lifting operations. NST has experience of design of advanced heavy duty hydraulic strand jacks with pulling capacity of 300Te per unit. A central control unit was designed to synchronise up to 20 number of hydraulic jacks accommodating ultimate pulling capacity of 6,000Te.
Offshore-Inshore Operation
NST engineering team is well experienced in heavy load handling engineering and prepared to offer the safest and economical solutions using existing facilities of the Client. Our experts have already been involved in several operations such as load-out, roll-up and lifting of multi thousand tones offshore structures deploying combination of strand jack, lifting towers, crawler cranes and flat barge. Video below, demonstrates our proposals for the aforementioned operations.
